Version 7 is here. What the transition timeline means for certified and new sites in India.

Where things stand
The FSSC Foundation published FSSC 22000 Version 7 on 1 May 2026. According to certification bodies, Version 6 audits remain permitted until 30 April 2027, upgrade audits to Version 7 run from 1 May 2027 to 30 April 2028, and only Version 7 audits apply after that. Some accreditation bodies have set slightly earlier cut-offs for specific audit types, so always confirm dates with your certification body.
What Version 6 already introduced
- Food safety and quality culture objectives
- Food loss and waste reduction strategy
- Stronger allergen management and environmental monitoring
- Equipment management and transport, storage and warehousing controls
What to do now
- Read the Version 7 scheme documents on fssc.com and note the changes for your food chain category
- Run a V7 gap assessment against your current system
- Update procedures, risk assessments and training records
- Plan your upgrade audit date with your certification body
New to FSSC 22000?
If your first certification audit will fall after the transition date, there is no reason to build a V6 system first. We implement directly to Version 7 requirements.
